Nederlandse bioscoopfilm
Deze zomer (2010) vinden de opnamen plaats in Amsterdam,
voor een Nederlandse bioscoopfilm waarin de Argentijnse tango een
kleine, doch, symbolisch, vast een essentiele rol speelt. Maldito
Tango! 'Tango Amsterdam' en 'Torito Events' werden gevraagd met enige
tangodansparen naar de set te komen. Oók Tango-orkest Racing Club
speelde
zichzelf. Hoe
dat uitpakt zien we in december, op het witte doek in de
Nederlandse bioscopen.

Alfredo Marcucci (81)
has left us

Cremation ceremony was held at
June 19, Hasselt, Belgium
Alfredo Marcucci passed away at June 12th. He was
one of the greatest and most beloved bandoneonists of our time.
As
a young man he played with the famous tango orchestras of the golden
era of Tango, and he travelled the world with the Latin folk
group 'Los Paraguayos'. Years later, tired of travelling he settled
down, with his
Dutch wife, in Belgium, where he took a job in a factory. His musical
talent was however rediscovered by the musicians Dirk van Esbroek and
Juan Masondo with whom he started a new group, 'Tango al Sur'. Alfredo
became a star. He became the teacher of the new generation of now
famous bandoneonists. He founded his own tango orchestras, like Sexteto
Veritango, and Orquesta Tipica Alfredo Marcucci, and toured
Europe.
At his 75th birtday at a (second) hommage organised in his honour he
enjoyed playing more than anything else.
The first time I saw and heard Marcucci play, it was with Masondo and
Van Esbroek, in 1992 at a milonga in Amsterdam. I remember too well,
how I enjoyed every note of it, and that it amazed me how much their
music and enthusiasme grabbed me. These kind of experiences kept coming
back all those years since, whenever Marcucci played. Only recently,
the strong and delicate bandoneonplayer became a fragile and delicate
bandoneonplayer and the third hommage planned for this great musician
in Janary 2010, had to be cancelled, for him being hospitalized.
Singer Fabián Russo, responding to the sad
news
from a rainy Buenos Aires, considers his work with Alfredo Marcucci (in
the Netherlands) fundamental for his artistic life.
In 1996 Fabián wrote a small Marcucci biography, that's translated from
spanish to dutch:

In de tijd dat Buenos Aires nog karakteristieke buurten had, waar bij
het vallen van de avond kinderen voetbal speelden op de hoek van de
straat, droomde de Maestro reeds van de bandoneón en zijn bestemming.
Met zijn kleine jongenshanden en 7 jaren oud zocht hij naar de
verborgen tonen van de 'fueye' (letterlijk: balg) en de weg die hij zou
moeten gaan.

Final exams at CODARTS
These are the days of the final exams of tangomusicians, graduating
from the conservatories.
June 15th, bandoneonist Santiago Cimadevilla graduated from the CODARTS
conservatory in Rotterdam by playing a great concert in the presence of
many of his friends and collegues.
The first work, 'Responso' (written by Anibal Troilo) he chose to play
because it once got him hooked to tango. He made his own arangments for
it to be played by himself and the whole orchestra OTRA.
To play 'Tango suite', by Astor Piazzolla, was suggested by his friend
guitarist Marcos di Paolo, although Santiago original thought was, that
he would never be able to play such a long and difficult work. It
consists of 3 pieces: Tango #1 - Deciso, Tango #2 - Andante and Tango
#3 - Allegro. Santiago proved he could do it and it was a great joy to
listen to the gentlemens own arrangements of it.
Many more pieces were played and many more musicians joined Santiago on
the CODARTS stage.
After a short meeting, his teachers Gustavo Beytelmann, Leo Vervelde,
Victor Hugo Vellena, Kay Sleking, Wim Warman and Micha Molthoff decided
Santiago deserved at least a 9.5 grade.

Zorreguieta more welcome?
Not really an
'Adios Nonino' for Máxima
Asked if Jorge Zorreguieta, father of, now, princess Maxima of the
Netherlands, would be welcome at the official ceremonies, when crown
prince Willem-Alexander and princess Máxima become King and Queen?
Job Cohen, ex mayor of Amsterdam, who also married the couple in 2002,
now
leading the political party PvdA (Dutch Labour party), thinks
Zorreguieta will be welcome.
Because: 'it's so many years ago'.
(Job Cohen wants to become prime minister of the Netherlands).
Whát exactly is it, mr Cohen, that happened too many years ago to be
kept accountable for? The victims seem to remember the thousends of
dissapeared and murdered better than the
politicians, but isn't that too often the case?
A refugee, Alejandra Slutzky, now living in the Netherlands, wrote a
book about the story of her family, and her father being one of the
murdered. Picked up from his home and being murdered by the junta, that
Jorge Zorreguieta 'regretfully did his best for', as Máxima said
herself.
There were many 'Adios Nonino's' for the Argentine families that lost
their fathers. But they also lost their mothers, son and daughters, and
grand children, the babies stolen from the murdered women. Too long ago
to still go after the criminals, Mr Cohen?
The tears of Maxima, cried at her wedding when Carel Kraayenhof played
'Adios Nonino' ('farewell, father'), may have been shed for her brave
fellow countrymen and women who resisted the regime her father did his
best for. because for Máxima, there's not been any Adios Nonino so far.

festivals page tried to sabotage Tango Antwerp Festival
Facebook page 'Tango Festivals, Marathons and Events worldwide'
repeatedly published lies, for months, in an attempt to destroy
someone elses
tango festival. The publisher has also sent emails to tangogroups to
spread the 'news' of a presumed cancellation of the Tango Antwerp
Festival (totally untrue), while
abusing the news about Osvaldo Zottos death.
Be aware that (Facebook) pages on which the publisher himself can
publish lies, and comments about the truth can be removed, can be
abused to sabotage the very kind of events that the page says to
promote!

it...
1st Prize for 'Zonder
Richting' (Without Direction'), a choreography by Ezequiel

In dutch: Het Rabotheater Open Podium Twente 2010 is gewonnen door het
tango-duo Ezequiel Sanucci en Lydia Müller dat een
bijzonder eigentijdse tango
uitvoerde. De jury prees de goede opbouw in de choreografie: ”zeer
origineel, vernieuwend en zuiver gedanst met de sensualiteit van de
tango,” aldus Ruut te Velthuis, hoofd van de vakjury van deze 7e editie
van deze inmiddels tot traditie uitgegroeide talentenjacht.
De jury bestond uit Daniël Renner (choreograaf van o.a. CRUSH en
artistiek leider van Round Corner Dance Company), Christel Hakvoort
(docent drama en actrice) Ruut te Velthuis (Hoofd Muziek van de
Muziekschool ‘Hof van Twente’ in Goor en dirigent van diverse koren en
bestuurslid van BALK, de koorbond voor lichte muziek).

The
art of improvisation
 Souvenir of the Brussels Tango Festival
2010: improvisations by the
maestros on sunday night, April 4th. The teachers of the festival were
made to dance with the partner of another teacher, chosen by the
public, and on music chosen by the public as well. So, none of the
dancers could have prepared anything on forehand. What came out of this
was a supurb proof of the talent of the various teachers. It was an
immense
pleasure to watch 'live'. The videos may give those who weren't there
an idea why.

Missing a
milonga?
Sometimes, after the opening of a milonga is reported, and a listing at
the Torito Agenda is requested and realised, updates of the agenda, by
the organisor, are forgotten.
This has lead, a few times per year, to tangueros encountering a closed
door, after travelling far. They then direct some anger or
frustration to the editor of this agenda, who however, had not been
informed by the organisor.
So, if you find your favorite milonga not listed, it may have been
removed, due to obvious lack of updates,
or the organisor may not seek this medium for publicity. If you find
mistakes, please report them to the editor of this agenda, and send a
copy to the organisor.
Organisors receive mailings that should remind them to send the
necessary updates.
Thanks for contributing to the most up to date Tango agenda in the Netherlands! It is

Ingezonden brief van de Argentijnse Alejandra Slutzky
Cohen maakt
uitglijder
PvdA-leider Cohen heeft bekend gemaakt dat hij geen bezwaren heeft
tegen de aanwezigheid van vader Zorreguieta bij de toekomstige
troonsbestijging van Willem-Alexander. Zijn aanwezigheid bij het
huwelijk van Willem-Alexander en Maxima werd destijds ongewenst geacht
door de regering, 'maar we zijn nu weer jaren verder'.
Pardon? Wij herdenken terecht in Nederland nog elk jaar 4 mei en wij
houden ook de herinnering aan Anne Frank hoog.
En Cohen geeft mij nú de boodschap dat de zaak van mijn vader en 30
duizend andere vermiste en vermoorde Argentijnen inmiddels wel
afgesloten kan worden? Is Cohen van mening dat de verantwoordelijken
voor mensenrechtenschendingen in de jaren zeventig en tachtig, waarvan
de meeste nooit voor de rechtbank zijn verschenen, nooit spijt
hebben betuigd, verjaard is?
Hoe kan het dat Cohen niet ziet wat hij ons, nabestaanden van oorlogen
en de rest van het Nederlandse volk, aandoet, door te pleiten voor een
koninklijke ontvangst van een medeplichtige aan misdaden tegen de
menselijkheid?
Mijnheer Cohen, zou u zulke uitspraken doen tegen de nabestaanden van
de oorlog in Nederland? Meerdere prominente Nederlanders en
nabestaanden van de oorlog in Nederland hebben eerder hun steun aan de
nabestaanden van de vermisten en vermoorde Argentijnen getoond. U bent
van de zelfde partij als Den Uyl , als zijn vrouw Liesbeth , als Kok.
Wat maakt dat u hun nagedachtenis opzij schuift en nog erger, ons allen
collectief wil laten geloven dat misdaden en pijn verjaren met de tijd,
dat recht doen overbodig wordt?
Na een uitglijder, staan we meestal weer op. Ik hoop dat u als
rechtsgeschapen politicus de stem wil zijn van de miljoenen
nabestaanden van oorlogen, van de duizenden in Nederland. Zij hebben uw
stem hard nodig. Voor hen kiezen is geen keuze tegen het koningshuis
maar vóór humaniteit en recht. Laat dat uw keuze zijn.
Alejandra Slutzky
Toevoeging van de redactie: Alejandra Slutzky schreef een boek over de
geschiedenis van haar immer weer tot vluchten genoodzaakte familie,
getitteld 'De Stilte'.
Als rebel tegen de junta werd haar vader gevangen gezet. Toen hij later
weer op vrije voeten was, maar de regering het moeilijk kreeg, werd
haar vader van huis opgehaald, om nooit meer terug te keren. De
militaire junta heeft hem heimelijk vermoord.
Alajendra is woordvoerster van H.I.J.O.S Holanda, een vereniging van
kinderen van tijdens in vuile oorlog van de junta verdwenen ouders.
