Of course we went to Istanbul
for a very long weekend to visit the historical
and archeological places. But then on the
Thursday night we decided to try the milonga
organized by Ahmet Dündar (www.tangoturkey.com)
A warm and very friendly welcome and we are
presented to Ahmed's English speaking Turkish
tangueros. They are curious to know all about
the tango scene in Amsterdam, and many have
friends, family or have even been in the
Amsterdam, Rotterdam or Nijmegen scene. The
music is lovely, varied with beautiful soft
Turkish tango. We dance all styles, open,
milonguero, Turkish and even modern later during
the night. A Zirtaki demo as a surprise for the
visitors (that's us! (-; and Thomas dances with
the most pretty girls.... "helemaal in zijn
nopjes!"... Ahmed's milonga gave us the most
friendly atmosphere with all the dancers who
consider us as a friend!
On Saturday, we decide to
visit the milonga organized by the great Turkish
maestro Metin Yazir. Indeed a more chique floor
where a beautiful lady and a handsome man in
suit welcome us. More dressed up, and little by
little we also here meet the most friendly
dancers. At the end of the traditional tango
night the DJ plays a more modern "OtroAires"
....
Another Turkish tango night
that will never be forgotten.....
